Saturday, October 5, 2019 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Celebrate fall in beautiful Oak Creek Canyon our annual Fall Festival. Bring your picnic supplies and enjoy the vibrant colors of autumn while having lunch and soaking in every aspect of this gorgeous venue. Enjoy interesting exhibits and educational demonstrations, plus there’s plenty of kid’s activities at the Junior Ranger Station and lots of antique tractors and flywheelers. Experience all of this while enjoying the various wildlife and native plants of Slide Rock State Park!
Kids and families can learn how to attract monarch butterflies to their gardens, enjoy blacksmithing with William Weathersby, and taste some of Payne Gulch’s delicious honey while learning all about bees! Take a close look at a Sedona Fire District fire engine and chat with firefighters, see an AZ Flywheeler display, learn about the endangered narrow-headed garter snakes, visit with US Fish and Wildlife, and reps from Tuzigoot National Monument.
Oak Creek Apple Company products will be available for purchase, and Tommy Rocks and the Jerome Ukulele Orchestra will perform from 1 to 3 p.m! Watch the apple sorting machinery run in the historical Apple Packing Shed. Kids of all ages can make a scarecrow, create a lavender wand in the Homestead Demonstration Garden, become a Junior Ranger, and wish Smokey Bear a happy 75th birthday!
Slide Rock State Park began as a working apple orchard. Today, its agricultural legacy continues. The orchard is still a working commercial apple ranch that features an original vintage 30-foot-long apple sorting machine reconstructed by volunteers, still in the historic Pendley apple shed. $10 per vehicle.
